Setup your Tarleton office Mac computer for remote access

If you wish to remotely connect to your office Mac from your home Mac, follow these steps (VPN required)

Preparing your office Mac for remote connection

Open System Preferences
Open Sharing
In the window that opens, make sure that 'Remote Management' is checked. Highlight 'Remote Management' and make sure Allow Access for All users is checked. See the image below


 

Identifying your office Mac name

You will notice in the Sharing window there is a Computer Name field. Make note of this name as you will need it later when you remotely connect from home.

Screen Sharing (Remotely Controlling) your office Mac from your home Mac

Launch Cisco AnyConnect VPN on your home Mac. If the connection field is blank, type in tsu-asa.tarleton.edu and click Connect



You will be prompted to login. Complete the login popup as follows:

Username: Enter your Tarleton username
Password: Enter your Tarleton password
Second Password: Enter one of the following

 

  • Push -This will send a Duo push to your registered device you will need to approve.
  • Phone -This will call your Duo registered device with a passcode to enter.
  • SMS -This will send a text message with a passcode to use.
  • You can also enter a Duo passcode if you generate one from the Duo app

 

Once you successfully authenticate through Duo, you will be signed in to Tarleton VPN. A message will appear stating that you are connected.

Click on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the macOS desktop
In the Spotlight Search box, type in Screen Sharing
Select Screen Sharing from the search results


 

In the Connect To: field, type in the name of your office Mac and click the Connect button
You will be prompted to login. Use your Tarleton username and password to login.
You will be connected to your office Mac.
