Learn how to back up your bookmarks in Safari. Either with a one time backup to OneDrive, or by creating an Apple account to always sync your bookmarks to the cloud.
One Time Back Up
These steps will create a one-time backup of your current bookmarks. This is a good option when you need to back up before your computer is reimaged or replaced. If you choose to use an Apple account to sync your data in Safari, then you can skip this method.
Open Safari.
Click on the File menu.
Click on Export, and then Bookmarks.
Set the save location to be your OneDrive. This will keep the saved bookmarks readily available to you on any device.
One Time Restore
These steps will restore your previously backed up bookmarks back into Safari. Follow these steps after your Tarleton computer has been reimaged or replaced. Skip if you opted to use an Apple account to sync your bookmarks.
Open Safari.
Click on the File menu.
Click on Import, and then Bookmarks HTML File.
Select your previously saved bookmarks file, which you should have saved in OneDrive. And then click Open.
Your bookmarks will now show back up in Safari.
Sync Bookmarks with an Apple Account
You can use/create an Apple account and sign into it in Safari. This allows you to sync your browser data, including bookmarks, to the cloud and other devices running Safari. With this function, you do not need to worry about making bookmark backups manually.
To keep your personal and work bookmarks separate, we recommend using your Tarleton email address to create an Apple account for work. If you want all your bookmarks under one account, then we recommend using a personal email address to create the Apple account.
Click the Apple menu on your Mac and select System Settings.
Click your name at the top if listed. If not listed, then the top left item should allow you to sign in with an Apple account. Go through that process to sign in.
Click iCloud.
Under App Using iCloud, click Show All.
Enable the switch next to Safari.
Your data will automatically sync, but it may take a few minutes.
