One Time Back Up

These steps will create a one-time backup of your current bookmarks. This is a good option when you need to back up before your computer is reimaged or replaced. If you choose to use a Mozilla account to sync your data in Firefox, then you can skip this method.

Open Firefox.

Click on the three line icon in the upper right corner.

Click on Bookmarks.

At the bottom of the bookmark menu, click on Manage Bookmarks.

A new window will come up. Click on the Import and Backup tab.

Click Export Bookmarks to HTML.

Set the save location to be your OneDrive. This will keep the saved bookmarks readily available to you on any device.

One Time Restore

These steps will restore your previously backed up bookmarks back into Firefox. Follow these steps after your Tarleton computer has been reimaged or replaced. Skip if you opted to use a Mozilla account to sync your bookmarks.

Open Firefox.

Click on the three line icon in the upper right corner.

Click on Bookmarks.

At the bottom of the bookmark menu, click on Manage Bookmarks.

A new window will come up. Click on the Import and Backup tab.

Click Import Bookmarks from HTML.

Select your previously saved bookmarks file, which you should have saved in OneDrive. And then click Open.

Your bookmarks will now show back up in Firefox.

Sync Bookmarks with a Mozilla Account

You can use/create a Mozilla account and sign into it in Firefox. This allows you to sync your browser data, including bookmarks, to the cloud and other devices running Firefox. With this function, you do not need to worry about making bookmark backups manually.

Open Firefox.

Go to the Mozilla accounts signup page.

Enter an email address and click sign up.

Follow the prompts to continue creating your account.

Once the account is created and confirmed, click on the three line icon in the upper right corner of the Firefox window.

Click Sign In.

In the new tab, click Sign in to sync.

Sign in to your account, which may require a confirmation code being sent to your email.

If prompted to connect another device, click not now.

You will be sent to your account profile page.

To set sync settings, click on the three line icon in the upper right corner of the Firefox window.

Click on your account.

And then click on Sync Settings.

Under Syncing, click Change to make any changes.

Your data will automatically sync, but it may take a few minutes.
