What You Need to Log In to Canvas
Logging in to Canvas requires one of the following combinations:
- An NTNET account or official Tarleton email address, and an active Canvas account
- OR a temporary Canvas account
Who Gets an NTNET Account and When
NTNET accounts are created automatically based on your role at Tarleton:
- Students: An NTNET account is created when you are admitted. It expires one year after your last long semester.
- Faculty and Staff: An NTNET account is created when you are hired. It expires on your last day of employment.
- Contractors: NTNET accounts are not created automatically. A Tarleton employee must sponsor the request on your behalf. Contact your Tarleton point of contact to initiate this process.
Requesting a Temporary Canvas Account
Temporary Canvas accounts are available in limited circumstances for individuals who have been hired as faculty but have not yet received their NTNET account.
To request a temporary account:
- Your supervisor must submit a Canvas Account Request form on your behalf.
- Your supervisor will be listed as the sponsor on the form. The individual needing access cannot submit this form themselves — it must be submitted by their supervisor or department.
A temporary account is not a substitute for an NTNET account. If you are eligible for an NTNET account, that process should be completed as soon as possible.
