Learn how to back up your bookmarks in Microsoft Edge. Either with a one time backup to OneDrive, or by using your Tarleton account to always sync your bookmarks to the cloud.
One Time Back Up
These steps will create a one-time backup of your current bookmarks. This is a good option when you need to back up before your computer is reimaged or replaced. If you choose to use your Tarleton account to sync your data in Edge, then you can skip this method.
Open Microsoft Edge.
Click on the Favorites icon (star shaped) near the upper right of the window.
In the Favorites menu, click on the three dot icon.
In the next menu, click on Export Favorites.
Set the save location to be your OneDrive. This will keep the saved bookmarks readily available to you on any device.
One Time Restore
These steps will restore your previously backed up bookmarks back into Microsoft Edge. Follow these steps after your Tarleton computer has been reimaged or replaced. Skip if you opted to use a Microsoft account to sync your bookmarks.
Open Microsoft Edge.
Click on the Favorites icon (star shaped) near the upper right of the window.
In the Favorites menu, click on the three dot icon.
In the next menu, click on Import Favorites.
Select your previously saved bookmarks file, which you should have saved in OneDrive. And then click Open.
Your bookmarks will now show back up in Edge.
Sync Bookmarks with a Microsoft Account
You can use/create a Microsoft account and sign into it in Edge. This allows you to sync your browser data, including bookmarks, to the cloud and other devices running Edge. With this function, you do not need to worry about making bookmark backups manually.
Your Tarleton account is also a Microsoft account, so if you wish to use that, there is no need to create a new account.
To keep your personal and work bookmarks separate, we recommend using your Tarleton account for work. If you want all your bookmarks under one account, then you can use a personal email address to create the Microsoft account. That will allow you to maintain access after leaving Tarleton.
Open Microsoft Edge.
Click Sign In found in the upper left of the window. If you do not see Sign In but instead see a profile picture, then you are already signed in with an account.
It will likely detect your Tarleton account. Feel free to use it by clicking Complete Sign In. To use a personal account, click on Set Up New Personal Profile.
Enter your account's password and finish signing in.
Under your profile, click the Settings icon (gear shaped).
Click on Sync.
Make sure Favorites is enabled. Feel free to enable/disable other data to be synced as you like.
Your data will automatically sync, but it may take a few minutes.
