Banner FAQ's

Students

  • Web Access Disabled: This error message means that their PIN within Banner is locked, we will need to unlock it and have them refresh their page and try again
 
  • Campus Wide Banner Shortage: This could occur for a variety of reasons. The most common one is when everyone on campus tries to register at the same time. It’s a situation where all we can do is wait
 
  • PIN Resets: Former and applicant students will often be the majority of the group requesting this service. Whenever you reset their PIN, it should automatically reset to the six digits of their birthday (MMDDYY). If it does not, then please verify that their birthday is correct within Banner, if it is not then they need to speak with Registrar to change that within their personal information
 
  • UCD ID Error MessageThis error message that the client needs to clear their cache and cookies before accessing Banner again

Faculty/Staff

*These processes also apply to any student worker that needs or accesses Banner.*
  • New Employee Access to Banner: For a new employee to have access to Banner, their employer or supervisor will need to fill out the Onboarding form and request Banner access. From there, another ticket will automatically be created for the correct department to grant Banner access
 
 
  • Edits or changes to Banner Access: If an employee has recently changed positions and is now needing Banner Access, or elevated privileges, then their supervisor or hiring manager needs to request access on behalf of them. They can do so by creating a Service Request on Service - Banner Security Request
