This method is ideal for an all web browser workflow, or for accessing non-Office files. If you download a file and change it, you need to upload it for the changes to sync to OneDrive.
Open OneDrive in Microsoft Office
Use this method if you frequently open or save Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files directly from OneDrive and want to always use the desktop apps. This setup process needs to be done once per classroom PC at the start of the semester.
Open Microsoft Word.
Click File > Open.
Select Add a Place.
Choose OneDrive for Business.
Sign in with your Tarleton credentials.
Once added, OneDrive will appear in the Open and Save menus for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Steps to add OneDrive to Word's open menu
After the initial setup, you can access your OneDrive files inside the Office app:
- Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, click on File, and then Open.
- Your Tarleton OneDrive should appear as an option. Click on it and your files will appear.
- Select the file you wish to open.

This method is best for faculty who work primarily within Office apps and want seamless access to their OneDrive files. Changes are always synced. But you cannot access non-Microsoft files.
