Xerox: Change Host Name

To prevent any disconnection from the printer when its IP changes for some external reason, we use a host name when adding printers to the print server.

1.  ACCESS THE WEB INTERFACE OF PRINTER

  • You will need the IP address of the printer that you are trying to set up.
    • You can find the IP address by printing a configuration report or accessing the printer settings on the printer itself.
  • Once you have the IP address, open a web browser and type it into the web address.
  • Log in with the admin username and password

2.  ACCESS PROPERTIES

  • On the top tab, click on “Properties
  • Locate and click on “Connectivity” on the left tab
    • From the drop-down menu, click on “Setup

3.  CONNECTIVITY

  • Locate and click on “Edit” for Wired Connection

4.  WIRED PROFILE

  • Under Configuration Settings, click “Edit” for IP (Internet Protocol)

5.  IP (INTERNET PROTOCOL)

  • Click “Show DNS Settings” for DNS

6.  SHOW DNS SETTINGS

  • Under Host/Domain Name, locate “Requested Host Name” field
    • Type the desired host name of the printer in the field
  • Scroll down to the bottom, click “Apply
  • Restart the printer in order to take effect.
