Internal Procedure Summary

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires the use of more than one verification method and adds a second layer of security to user sign-ins and transactions. Tarleton State University utilizes MFA to help provide an extra layer of security when accessing services. MFA operates by requiring the use of a username and password followed by an additional verification method:

  • Microsoft Authenticator or DUO mobile app
  • Phone call
  • SMS
  • Hardware token
