Add Pre-existing Videos to Canvas Studio
For instructors that have existing videos that need to be shared in Canvas. Tarleton's Canvas Studio subscription allows unlimited video storage in the Canvas systems. Videos added to Canvas Studio can be added to multiple courses without taking up course file space allocations. Canvas Studio can be used to create new videos, but that is beyond the scope of this article.
Access to the official Canvas Studio documentation for uploading content can be found here:
How do I upload media files in my Canvas Studio account?
To add existing videos to Canvas Studio:
- Click on the Canvas Studio icon in the main Canvas menu
- Create a Collection to hold similar videos (optional). Collections are like folders but only go one layer deep. You cannot add Collections to other Collections.
- Provide a name for the collection and select Create
- Once created, it will open the new Collection for adding content. To return to the main folder, select My Library at the top left corner of the Window.
- Select the ADD icon at the window's top right corner (this can be done from within a collection or in the main library).
- Either drag and drop files or select Browse Files to add the videos.
- If Browse Files was selected, locate the video and select Open
- The video will be uploaded to Canvas Studio to be used in a course.
