Click the Request Service button on this page to request the creation of a Canvas Community, Development, or Sandbox shell.
Types of Requested Courses
- Developmental Courses – These courses are a safe place to design a course. Once the course content is satisfactory, instructors can move the content from the Dev shell into their real course. These types of shells do not include student data.
- Community Courses – These courses are for groups or organizations to organize and communicate. These courses are not for credit. A community course may be used by student organizations but must be requested by a faculty/staff member.
- Sandbox Courses – These courses serve as a learning ground for instructors to get familiar with Canvas and its features.
Please note that LIVE course shells, which contain student data and are used to teach the real course, cannot be requested. Faculty members must be listed as the instructor of record in Banner. That data will then be reflected within Canvas. Please contact the Office of Registrar with questions regarding LIVE courses not showing up.
