Which Wi-Fi Network Should I Use?
Tarleton State students, faculty, and staff on the Stephenville and Fort Worth campus (outside of residence halls):
Tarleton State students on the Stephenville campus and inside a residence hall:
Visitors to the Tarleton State Stephenville or Fort Worth campus:
Tarleton State students, faculty, and staff using a non-Samsung Android device, or needing to connect a "smart" device to the Internet:
Tarleton-WiFi
Tarleton-WiFi is the primary wireless network for students, faculty, and staff and is connected to Tarleton's internal network. It is available at the Stephenville and Fort Worth campuses, both inside non-residential buildings and in many outdoor common spaces. You may connect both Tarleton provided devices and personal devices. A Tarleton NTNET account is required.
Student Login Information:
- Username = UID
- Password = Tarleton password
Faculty/Staff Login Information:
- Username = Tarleton username (first part of your Tarleton email address, not including @tarleton.edu)
- Password = Tarleton password
Tarleton-Visitors
Tarleton-Visitors is our guest wireless network. Visitors to campus may register their device to gain access to the Internet. It is available at the Stephenville and Fort Worth campuses, both inside non-residential buildings and in many outdoor common spaces.
Visitors Login Information:
- Select Tarleton-Visitors from your devices' Wi-Fi settings.
- Fill out the form that comes up, accept the Terms of Service, and press Sign In.
- Once successful, the Tarleton State homepage should come up. You can press Done and access the Internet normally.
eduroam
eduroam (education roaming) is a secure wireless network service that allows many university students, faculty, and staff members wireless network access while visiting other eduroam participating institutions, including Tarleton State University. Tarleton students, faculty, and staff can access eduroam at over 10,000 hotspots around the world. And guests from other eduroam participating universities and institutions can connect to our eduroam with their organization's login. At Tarleton, the network is available at the Stephenville and Fort Worth campuses, both inside non-residential buildings and in many outdoor common spaces.
How can I tell if I have access to eduroam:
- Contact your institution's IT support and ask.
- Check eduroam's map and see if your institution is listed. If so, then chances are your institution login will work.
eduroam Login Information:
- Username = Your institution email address
- Password = Your institution password
- Tip: Log into eduroam from your home campus before traveling. Once your device has connected, you'll automatically join eduroam networks at other locations.
Technical support for eduroam is provided by your home institution. Tarleton visitors will need to call their home institution for technical assistance.
Tarleton-IoT
Tarleton-IoT (Internet of Things) wireless network is designed to allow Internet access for devices considered less secure or for devices where entering a username is not possible. A device must be registered via its MAC address, and is issued a password that is unique to that MAC address. It is available at the Stephenville and Fort Worth campuses, both inside non-residential buildings and in many outdoor common spaces.
Connecting a device to Tarleton-IoT:
Residence Hall Wi-Fi (MyResNet)
Wi-Fi service in Tarleton State residence halls is provided by Apogee and is separate from other Tarleton wireless networks. An Apogee account is required and is only available to students currently living in a residence hall at the Stephenville campus.
Connecting a device to MyResNet for the first time:
- On a device with Internet access, go to https://www.myresnet.com/ and create an account if needed, or sign in.
- From inside the residence hall, you can go to your Wi-Fi settings, and select MyResNet Start Here
- Scroll down to see notes on restrictions for various devices.
- Follow the on-screen instructions for registering your device.
You will need to go through this process for each device.
Apogee prohibits the use of personal routers, access points, and other such network devices.
