Add Pre-existing Videos to Canvas Studio

For instructors that have existing videos that need to be shared in Canvas.  Tarleton's Canvas Studio subscription allows unlimited video storage in the Canvas systems.  Videos added to Canvas Studio can be added to multiple courses without taking up course file space allocations.  Canvas Studio can be used to create new videos, but that is beyond the scope of this article.

To add existing videos to Canvas Studio:

  1. Click on the Canvas Studio icon in the main Canvas menu

  2. Create a Collection to hold similar videos (optional).  Collections are like folders but only go one layer deep.  You cannot add Collections to other Collections.

    1. Provide a name for the collection and select Create

    2. Once created, it will open the new Collection for adding content.  To return to the main folder, select My Library at the top left corner of the Window.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
       
  3. Select the ADD icon at the window's top right corner (this can be done from within a collection or in the main library).Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Either drag and drop files or select Browse Files to add the videos.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
    1. If Browse Files was selected, locate the video and select OpenUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
       
  5. The video will be uploaded to Canvas Studio to be used in a course.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
